2001 Flora Springs Trilogy

(Opened approximately 2 hours prior to consumption) This wine is peaking right now - it's absolutely silky on the mouthfeel, and the finish is long and complex. Tar, jasmine, blackberry preserves, and cherry pie filling on the nose. Tannins are plump and smoothed over, carrying bits of berry seed flavors with them. On the palate, I'm getting a nice dark plum, sweet licorice, cherries, forest floor, and just enough tannins to stick to your mouth for a bit. The finish shows blackberries, some sweet cedar, more sweet black licorice, and some violets, lasting a good 30 seconds. I'm glad I waited until now for this bottle, and only wish we had purchased more at the time so I would have a few to consume in the very near future. If you have a bottle, open it now.
